Yesterday was something special.🧡 We had the privilege of spending the morning with Lesley from @boolabidi along the river at Korijekup, the place of the red tailed cockatoo. From the very beginning, we were invited to slow down and truly connect to place through a beautiful foot rubbing ceremony. A simple yet powerful act that grounded us on Noongar Boodja and reminded us that walking on Country is both a privilege and a responsibility. Lesley shared her deep passion for Bindjareb culture, the stories of this land, and the important work she and her community are doing to restore and revegetate the river. Wandering beneath the peppermint trees, breathing in their fresh scent, listening to stories passed down through generations, you could feel her profound love for boodja in every word. Inclusion means walking together on this land. Learning together. Listening. Respecting Country and caring for Country so it can continue to care for us. If you haven’t yet experienced the Noongar Kaatdjin Bidi – Noongar Knowledge River Path with Boola Bidi Dreaming, I cannot recommend it enough. It is immersive, grounding and deeply meaningful. Go beyond the trail. Learn the stories. Connect to Bindjareb culture and Country in a way that stays with you long after you leave.🖤💛❤️ #BoolaBidi #Culture #AboriginalCulture #Binjareb WATheDreamState

This week’s Noongar word is Bilya, meaning ‘river’. Pronunciation: BILL-yuh In Noongar culture, rivers are more than just waterways. They are living, spiritual places, often connected to the Wagyl (the Rainbow Serpent), who is said to have created them. Bilya are vital to life, providing food, water, and a path through Country. #NoongarLanguage #NoongarWordOfTheWeek #Bilya #IndigenousCulture #WesternAustralia #AboriginalCulture
