Open Gym sessions allow for the development of high levels of movement and handling proficiency while maintaining extreme awareness and safety under load and pressure. Skills are built at your current level and safe and respectful conduct is the utmost important expectation.
This two-hour session will include mini-stages for introducing, demonstrating and evalutating participants’ safety and competency. Skill and talent will be secondary. The objective is to continue building this community with high-level skill sets while having fun with great training alongside amazing members.
Like many others who have experienced it and are already part of the group, Open Gym has literally become a life-changing event, transforming many of us far beyond gun handling and served as a foundation that led many of us to help carry this torch forward after JTAC Ranch. This is what sets our community apart. This is what sets BVI apart. This in turn, is what will set YOU apart from every other bench shooter out there. Open Gym - Level 1 drill.
This is a great and non-conventional drill but such a great skill to have. While most drills comprise of closing engagement distance, this one requires steady hold and engaging while moving away from the target.
Seems simple but how fast can you retreat and hit accurately? It reminds me of watching footage where a police officer is surprised on a stop and has to retreat while trying to neutralize the threat of an incoming attacker closes in with a potentially lethal treat.

Team ladder drill.
Teams of 2 rifleman. Climb and alternate 200yd shots from 6 red rungs. First to complete wins!
Strong emphasis on and test of muzzle control enforced by strict RO/Spotter at each ladder.
One of the best drills we’ve ever had!

BVI Open Gym - level 3
5 teams of 2 (one on pistol, other on rifle) both start hanging.
One allowed to drop and have to hit target twice before swapping.
Pistol 15yd. Rifle at 200yd. Last team to stay hanging wins!
