On this weekend, I had the very fun opportunity to work in Eugene, OR. As is my style, I got absolutely no sleep before my extremely early flight and I ended up being awake for at least 20 hours. But the first night was only one show and it ended up going well.
I will say, one thing that I didn’t see coming was the fact that the building was not very telling that it was a comedy club. Fortunately, they were kind enough to put a piece of paper that said “Comedy Club Entrance Here”... but it was difficult for me to trust this paper, because I’ve been fooled before.
Finally after a decent nights sleep, I was able to get some writing done and get a workout in. I actually was able to finish out my comedy journal that I’ve had just shy of 2 years. I had to make sure I didn’t push it over that 2 year mark. And it felt good to get that accomplished, though it was a little lame to have to bring a second journal with me.
Then there were the Friday shows... how can I say this nicely... were night and day different. The first show was probably one of the best shows I’ve had in a really long time... and the second show... not so much. I will say that it had a lot to do with a heckler that Chad and I had dealt with. And there’s just something about Friday night late shows...
