Hello! DIY legends Friend and Gramma are coming back to Lincoln very soon!!! May 8 at El Proyecto with Jet Set and Boy Seeking Band. We’re working on this one with our friends over at @interrobang.lnk . Their monthly zine is incredible and is something we’ve needed around here for a long time! Friend have played here a handful of times in the past couple years and it’s always a banger. And I think this is Gramma’s first time back since like 2020, right before you know what. They dabble in grunge, goth, shoegaze and stoner rock on their new album “Unobsession,” and they’re particularly good at casting a dreadful mood that eventually gets curbstomped with big, cleansing choruses. Our most recent Reactor show with Ada Lea and Madeline Reddel was a smashing success, and we can’t wait for the next one THIS SATURDAY with Chicago’s Advance Base and Philadelphia’s Kristin Daelyn :) At the show we’ll be taking donations of nonperishable food and personal care items for the @foodbankoflincoln . No discount or anything for bringing a donation, just the satisfaction of knowing you’re helping Lincolnites in need! A list of the Food Bank’s biggest needs is on slide 6. This show is part of Advance Base’s annual tour where he plays all of the bittersweet Christmas songs in his catalog, shouldering the season’s complicated feelings of melancholy, closeness and sentiment that often become part of the holidays whether we like it or not. We’ve got a quiet folk show this Saturday at Reactor, just as fall is setting in 🍂 Chicago’s Hannah Sandoz is bringing us their pretty and pensive lo-fi folk songs on the back end of their west coast tour.
