Kurt lived life—he really did. I was always so proud that he was my dad.
Growing up, I felt lucky.
Lucky that I got to share who he was—to say that he made toys, sculpted models, and flew hang gliders with some truly amazing people, people who helped shape who I’ve become.
While he never taught me to fly, I got to feel that freedom because of him. He helped me understand that everything is possible.
His life was an adventure, and I was lucky to be part of it.
He was a sculptor—the kind of artist who didn’t just make beautiful things; he built them. He brought his work home in unforgettable ways: prototype toys, Ziggy figures, Sesame Street characters, Disney props.
One summer, our place became a wonderland of Super Soakers, scattered across the lawn like we’d hit the jackpot.
He even gave me my first motorcycle—because of course he did.
His creativity wasn’t just something we saw; it was something we got to live inside of. Nothing lit him up more than seeing all his sons together. You could see it in his face—he was so proud of us. He loved a good day on the golf course, a cigar between stories, and a good time with the people who knew him best.
I loved him for the wild, for the wonder, for the way he made everything feel possible. Even now, he’s in my bones when I take a risk or build something from nothing. He gave me the best kind of legacy: to live full, love deep, and never be afraid to jump off the edge.
And now, on days when I look up, I like to think of Doug up there too—soaring through the clouds with him. Two free spirits chasing the sky together.
Kurt was proud of us.
And I hope he knew—we were proud of him, too. Still are. Always will be.

What’s FRIGHT-O-VISION you ask? It’s the most horrifyingly fun way to see a film, with killers and monsters stalking the audience and plenty of surprises! It’s realer than 3-D! In between movies we will have a monster of a good time with a DJ set by our ghoul pal @shearn10 plus scares, costume contest, raffle, and you can get monsterized with make up by @nikaanton ! Mummers was a huge success and I am so fortunate to share the same space with all of these creative amazing people. Every year is a sprint to the finish line and we always come out champs. It wasn’t easy that this was one of the biggest troops we’ve had, but it also was one of the best we’ve done.
