Introducing our first JUDGE… @migz_can_shuffle 💥 “Hello yall 👋🏼👋🏼 Migz here! Super excited and grateful to be apart of SOTU’s first ever shuffle battle! I’ve been shuffling for about 17 years. I’ve been a judge for several shuffle battles now. This will be my 5th one. I, myself have battled in 5 shuffle tournaments and won once! I’ve been teaching for about 6 years now. And I have taught some of the biggest names in the shuffle community. Back in the day, I ran my own shuffle crew called GMH. Which became pretty known to say the least. So I guess you can say I’ve been really involved within the shuffle community over the last decade or so. When I first started my shuffle journey I began with learning the basics; the Running Man and T-steps. Later I came across We Dance Hard and Hardstyle Republic. Which made me realize there are 5 key pillars within the Melbourne shuffle foundations. Those being the RM, T-steps, spins, kicks, and glides. Each Shuffle style having it’s own way to execute those foundations. Those styles are Rocking and MAS that I do myself. Years went by and I witnessed how Melbourne Shuffle evolved in the U.S. into new shuffle styles. At that time “Cali style” began to form. Watching crews like Star 67 and FTS incorporate different dance moves into shuffling and evolve the foundations of the Melbourne shuffle. Seeing this, made me realize there’s so much more within this dance to strive for! - While still being grounded into the roots of this dance! The Essence!! The Roots of Essence! Lol So with that being said, Shuffle with intention! Be grounded, be present, be yourself! Scared to hold you in their the arms but never in their expectation You glide through with certain charm But stillness risks their suffocation. Is that why you dance on tiptoes? Taught to give but you can't stay The mind won't count, but the body knows, The price you continue to pay.

Effort × Conviction × Surrender: a recipe to breathe life into a dream or an idea 🌱🌸 The first time I drove across this bridge, I saw the vision. I shared the idea out loud, but internally I already filed the hypothetical as a fleeting thought. It was "too much," one way or another. Too dangerous, too bold, too silly, too risky of being judged. I've been trained to make sure I am never too much in order to be likeable, accepted, to fit the mold & fly under the radar. Our parents & ancestors had to, for survival, but we forget to evaluate the cost of carrying these beliefs forward. Left unchecked, we dim our light until the version of us that succeeds isn't someone we even recognize. In dance, I find the courage to be myself unapologetically and unashamed. I find the spaces (like battling) where I can let everything in my heart out. Every single time I take the chance to show up genuinely, I find the world embraces me and the space around me shines more vibrantly.
