Rotator cuff pain commonly causes local swelling and tenderness in the front of the shoulder. You may have pain or stiffness when you lift your arm or when the arm is lowered from an elevated position.
WHAT TO DO:
• see a healthcare provider
• decrease activity that requires the use of the shoulder at or above shoulder level
• apply ice to affected area
• take anti-inflammatory medication to reduce pain
• start an exercise program to maintain flexibility
• avoid carrying heavy objects with affected arm
• get on a consistent massage plan
