Eloise and I have walked 10 km so far this long weekend, and enjoyed some time in nature. Today, we went to Lemoine Point and it was 20C finally! The trilliums are blooming everywhere in the woods, and as usual, the Canada geese are everywhere too. This is what spring should look like in Kingston. 😊🐾🌷

If you’ve completed your manuscript and are wondering whether it’s ready for publication or querying, a professional manuscript review can become an invaluable part of your writing journey. But what exactly does a manuscript review involve, and how can it strengthen your book before publication? This article explains what to expect from a professional manuscript review, how it differs from editing, and why it can help refine your manuscript before you take the next big step. We had a great fam jam yesterday at Queen’s University’s Science Rendezvous at Slush Puppie Place. It was busy, but a fun experience for kids of all ages. We went to see our S.T.E.M. Queen, my niece, Erika @erika_.gagnon at her group’s exhibit, which featured the bean plants she is studying for her masters degree in Biology, as she is testing new bacteria strains that can help the plants produce more nitrogen in the soil, and be better able to withstand pests so as to produce better crops. I hope I got that right! There were other plants featured as well. We saw a lot of cool exhibits, and the robotic dog charmed everyone! When we were tired of walking around, we went to Union Kitchen for a drink and a snack. Thanks @dianne.arenburg.1 for taking Dad and me, and thanks to Ethan for hanging out with Eloise. ❤️

I had a great time last night at Kingston Frameworks celebrating Erin Eardley’s Eastern Breeze Exhibition with my sister Dianne @dianne.arenburg.1 , friend Lisa @allindykstra , and my former colleague, David Ariss and his lovely wife. There were many more people there too. Erin’s art is so beautiful and unique! I hope more friends in Kingston will stop in to see it before the end of the month. 🌸🐝🐑🐈🐟🩰🌺🐦‍⬛ Thank you, @erineardleyart for your kindness and for sharing your gift with us! ❤️❤️❤️ That’s Lisa in the last piece of art in this reel! She was standing on a beach in Prince Edward Island.

I’ve spent the past year exploring AI tools for writers, learning both their strengths and their limits. Along the way, I’ve used ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot to create Non-Disclosure Agreements, service contracts, marketing plans, email welcome series, newsletter structures, blog topic ideas, research summaries, images, and more. The results can feel almost magical. However, we must use these tools with intention without compromising our integrity or creative voice. That’s why I wrote AI Tools for Writers: A Practical Guide. Ultimately, AI can become a powerful creative partner—if you remain in control of the process. Use it to brainstorm. Use it to structure. Use it to refine. However, never surrender the heart of your work. Because the magic doesn’t live in the algorithm. It lives in you. /ai-tools-for-writers/ #aitoolsforwriting

Writing spiritual and self-help books can feel like walking a well-worn path. The ideas are meaningful. The intention is sincere. Yet somehow, the words begin to echo what’s already been said. When that happens, even meaningful insights can lose their power. If you’ve ever reread your own work and thought, This sounds like everything else, you’re not imagining it. Many writers in this space wrestle with the same frustration. Writing spiritual and self-help books requires more than insight. It asks for originality in a space saturated with repeated language, recycled structures, and overused wisdom. The good news? You don’t need to reinvent truth. You need to express it in a way only you can. So how do you transform your wisdom into an original, unforgettable book? Wisdom That Impacts: How to Make Your Spiritual/Self-Help Book Unforgettable /how-to-make-your-spiritual-self-help-book-unforgettable/ #spiritualselfhelp #spiritualbooks #selfhelpbooks

There are days when writing feels hard—when the words resist you, when your thoughts tangle, when even opening the document feels like an act of defiance. If you’ve been there, you’re not alone. Every writer, at every stage, meets this invisible wall. The question isn’t whether it happens. It’s what you do when it does. Because pushing harder isn’t always the answer. Sometimes, it’s the very thing that leads to burnout. Let’s talk about how to keep going—steadily, sustainably, and without losing yourself along the way. When Writing Feels Hard: How to Avoid Burnout /when-writing-feels-hard-how-to-avoid-burnout/ #writerburnout #writingishard #writingishardsometimes

Receiving a testimonial like this one from @p.l.stuart makes me proud to be a book editor. I’m privileged to be P.L. Stuart’s editor for his Lord and King, A Lion’s Pride, A Pack of Wolves, and the upcoming A Black Dragon on Red from his brilliant epic fantasy series, The Drowned Kingdom Saga. If you love fantasy, I highly recommend his series, which starts with A Drowned Kingdom, followed by The Last of the Atalanteans. You won’t be disappointed! #bookeditor #epicfantasy #clienttestimonials
