Update: On the mend. Hitting the PT exercises hard, alternate heat and icing. Gradually getting motion back in the pinky. Gonna take time to get back to playing. Grateful for the USC docs and Jose at Hollywood Hands OT.
If you find yourself in a medical emergency situation, Poland is a place where they will look after you. So grateful to the Jazz nad Odra staff for getting me to a good hospital quickly. Thankfully no permanent damage as far as I know.
I’ve always found it strange when people post their medical travails on Facebook.
So here I am sitting in an orthopedic hospital in Wroclaw, Poland, having fallen on my face and broke my pinky. (Bent backwards, bone sticking out of the skin). Not much else to do but post on Facebook. Now I get it…. I must say Poland is a happening country. They are taking good care of me.
Finished the week of rehearsals with WDR Big Band, and my old friend Randy Brecker, still one of the baddest trumpeters on the planet! Concerts Saturday and Sunday in Essen and Hamm. A great time being had by all.

JEN in New Orleans was a real joy! Saw so many friends and made new ones. This from the roar of people trying instruments and gear in the exhibit area.
Stayed in a beautiful hotel
called UMusic Hotel in Madrid.
Really nice theatre right in the lobby where we played. This was sitting on my desk as part of the mini (maxi?!) bar fare. Good thing I don’t drink. I would have had a hell of a bill and a serious hangover.
