Day 7, #manaslu. Decision time. Bad weather forecast for Friday - the day we’re due to cross the Larke Pass. At 5,106m, this is the main event. If I miss the window I need to turn back and retrace my steps to catch my flight home. Not ideal. Feeling good at altitude so we power on to Dharamsala at 4600m - the final stop before the pass - an ascent of 900m in one day. (Not recommended). Blue skies all the way. Oh, and marmots. The weirdest animals - like a cat made out with a monkey.

Day 6 #manaslu. Snow. Lots of it. Great for photos. Not for my hopes of crossing the Larke Pass (5,100m) in a couple of days. Still, a magical wonderland awaited. Amongst it all, a bird big enough to pick me up and fly me direct to the pass itself (if you look closely enough…)

Day 5 #manaslu. 4am sky check. Stars. Relief. Then sunrise and golden light on mountains… including the reason we’re here - Manaslu (8,163m) towering above it all. Hiked to base, visited a 300 year old monastery, then had a nice warm cuppa courtesy of the coolest guy at 4,000m, anywhere.

Day 4 #mamaslu. The skies opened up! Deeper into the trek now and noticing a shift to Tibetan culture. Met these little legend en-route. Happy about my lens choices.

Day 3 #manaslu. 22km trekking. Clouds. Rain. And not much to see, until this. The first peak of a monstrous mountain, as the skies cleared at sun down.

Day 1, #Manaslu. 20km in and a long wait for fresh dal bhat. Hung out with goats to kill some time. Then found some pumpkins 🎃
