New Instrument Day!
Got this “wooden laughter” traditional German Xylophone shipped from Poland this winter. Some refurbishing will be in its future, but this is as traditional as they come. Includes the original spoon-style mallets and the bars sit on bundles of straw.
Can’t wait to get this guy up and running w @chardonpolkaband this year. For the moment, swipe through for a quick excerpt of “Zirkus Renz” written for this instrument, forgive the clunkers.
yearly (lovely) snowbird trip w @annakayfischer
some campsnap mixed in there
It’s not lost on me that trip wouldn’t be a given without our two weekend oktoberfest rip w @chardonpolkaband . Appreciate the beginning of the season, it always starts so beautifully
Bob asked me to marry him, and I said yes! We knew right away we wanted to share the news with some tintypes. Special thanks to our dear friend @sethbasistatintypes for making this session so special.
Finished up this restoration job for @deananshutz // Motobecane old school 5-speed steel frame (steel is REAL).
He had the blue tires and we threw a new Brooks B17 saddle and some bar tape to match.
Love this thing, wanted to keep it for myself.
Claude Debussy - ‘Dr Gradus ad Parnassum’ from “Children’s Corner” (adapted to marimba)
I happened to be in possession of a marimba in the waning weeks of our stay the Ward Bakery building, so I wanted to use the time for one last creative pursuit.
I opened my senior recital at YSU with this piece in April 2011, and I made a hasty attempt to bring it back. Sometimes you wonder if you’ll get to do certain things again as life takes its hold, so—clunkers aside—I’m really glad to revisit this piece.
Thanks for listening. Throw some headphones in for some better audio.
Another polka run w @chardonpolkaband to Maifest in Mt Angel, OR / got to see some old Youngstown pals, @salo__panto , play as an added bonus! No water balloons this time though, per request.
