QANTAS FLIGHT DIVERTED AFTER PASSENGER ASSAULT
A Qantas flight from Melbourne to Dallas was diverted to Papeete, Tahiti, after a passenger allegedly became disruptive and assaulted a flight attendant during the long-haul journey.
The crew, with assistance from other passengers, restrained the man before the aircraft made an unscheduled landing about seven hours into the flight.
Local authorities met the aircraft on arrival, and the passenger was later banned from all Qantas Group flights.
The flight resumed after refuelling and continued to Dallas, arriving several hours behind schedule.
