Yesterday, I stopped at the wonderful @bnbuckhead , figuring I’d do some of the basics of book promotion — sign some copies, shake some hands. Instead, I encountered this gorgeous display of “In The Days of my Youth I Was Told What it Means to Be a Man,” envisioned by store manager @rachelvetter and designed by one of her booksellers, Warren, pictured here. What can I say? I’ve read portrayals of the promotional trail as a protracted grind. But I’ve found it to be a charmed place, an opportunity for generosity, connection and lovely surprise. Thanks Rachel, Warren, @bnbuckhead and @barnesandnoble for their ingenuity and support of my book — and for making that big store on Peachtree feel like home.
