hoping to resubmit this piece to a show so I can have it exhibited as it was intended and shown the respect the work deserves. Shame on a gallery and exhibition staff who ignores an artists intent, instructions and materials with no communication or inquiry regarding how they decided to show the work.
took a long time to resolve how to hang this piece! Was thrilled with the solution only to have the gallery completely ignore my instructions and disregard the items provided. I won’t name the gallery- but it’s taken me until now to not feel sick about it!
this piece, always intended to be a gift, grew from a desire to try something familiar but different, to stitch while traveling and produce work when not physically in my studio. The gift was for others but the gift to me was success and the invitation to new challenges and big questions! Hey y’all- be more elastic!
finished this because I set a deadline for a different project- I gained so much from working on this piece and felt such joy passing it on to a new home- but not before a lot of documentation- see next post to check out the way it looks when the light gets in
Started this on an airplane- flying to Santa Fe and continued working on it on flights to New Mexico, Michigan, Wisconsin, California, Florida, Arizona, and Illinois. Worked on it at the beach and pretty much everywhere except my studio. It was a gift so I had to keep it a secret!
impossible to described my joy in getting the binding complete- for some reason it was a significant hold up for me- perhaps it had to do with boundaries and borders? It’s done and hanging and conversing in the dining room!
On the heels of the grilled cheese boxes for Tillamook was this 300 box job introducing Butternaise. This limited edition collaboration between Kewpie and Tillamook sold out in less than 2 minutes. Lucky recipients got their Butternaise, cheese and a custom laser etched spreader we made. Did I get any? Nope, not yet….but they had me at butter. My amazing sister @bmorelastic was a box making machine along side me for this and other cool projects.
