Today I had the honor of being there to capture the moment Hardeep asked Julissa to marry him. He had enlisted the help of Steve, a volunteer in the print shop at @bmi_events , to do a demonstration of the linotype machine, culminating in a print popping the question. It was such a unique and thoughtful way to propose, and they even got to keep the metal blocks from the print.
After the proposal we took some photos around the BMI, and down the street at Federal Hill and AVAM. It was a beautiful morning and I couldnât be happier for them both!

Thousands rallied across Maryland (and globally) yesterday for May Day, representing workers from a range of industries, advocating for workersâ rights, and economic and social justice.
May Day matters. And so does May 2nd and every day after that.
History shows Workersâ rights arenât won in a single afternoon but are built through sustained advocacy, organizing, and coalition. At the Baltimore Museum of Industry, our exhibition âCollective Action: Labor Activism in 21st Century Baltimoreâ exists precisely for that reason â to keep this conversation going year-round.
Itâs been a month since the BMI opened âKey Bridge: Building a Baltimore Landmark.â This exhibition serves as a tribute to the workers who built the bridge, beam by beam, and to their labor that shaped Baltimore lifeâ helping us get to work, moving our economy, and connecting our neighborhoods.
Through our programs this past month, weâve heard from community members who carry those workersâ legacies and from visitors who are reminded of how deeply infrastructure shapes everyday life.
We hope you have a chance to visit the museum and see the exhibition soon!
