❗️What you can expect during a makeup consultation: Bridal Trial Edition
Back with part 2 of my consultation series and this time I wanted to showcase how a bridal trial typically goes and what you can expect when having a trial with me!
Before my brides get in my chair for their trial I send out a PDF of some trial prep tips so they come in ready to go! I always recommend coming in to your trial wearing white and a neckline similar to your dress if you can, Wearing your hair similarly to what you are envisioning for the day, and if you plan to have a spray tan or know you’ll be naturally tanned on the wedding day I always recommend trying to come to your trial with some kind of fake tan on. This really helps for you to get a clear vision of exactly how the makeup will look on the wedding day and on my end helps me to make sure the same products are used at the trial and on the wedding day. Also having inspiration photos from your artists page to show them what you are thinking is probably the most important thing (if you cant find anything that resonates with you on their page they might not be the right artist for you!)
Sierra is one of my actual 2025 brides and has some experience working within the makeup industry so she came very prepared with communicating what she was envisioning. Yes, some of the questions are similar to what I would ask during any consultation but there’s also lots of questions and conversation about the wedding day specifically. “What color are your bridesmaids dresses?” “What are you doing with your hair?” “What does your dress look like?” Etc. I am big on all of the details of the wedding day tying into your makeup as I think it should be an overall look or feel with a cohesiveness.

❗️A peek inside the process: The Consultation Part 1

My very first question when anyone sits in my chair is something along the lines of “what did you have in mind for your makeup today?” Based on how they answer that question will set the tone of how my consultation process will go! Which is why I wanted to start this consultation series featuring all different wants/needs/scenarios and show you how the consultation plays out and how it determines how the makeup look comes together in the end. In this scenario, this client said “I’m not sure, I want you to do whatever you think is best.” Which can either be every makeup artists favorite thing to hear or worst nightmare. Which is why the consultation is crucial in a situation like this so I can try to gather as much information about the clients likes/dislikes and level of comfort wearing makeup etc; If I have absolutely no direction to go off of chances are one of us will end up unhappy with the outcome. But, if I can get even just a little bit of direction and information from the client we can turn out a beautiful makeup look! 💓
