The iconography references Boris Gardiner's song "Every Nigger is a Star", Kendrick Lamar's "Wesley's Theory", & hip hop culture at large. It also utilizes pan-african motifs and an aesthetic nod to Faith Ringgold's "Woman Freedom Now".
This tapestry was made for and to be loved by black people.
