"The Sympath" - Paper Mache // 2026
This piece and her crying eyes represents the weight of feeling grief and sadness that isn't always mine to carry. Being invested of the suffering of the collective leaves me vulnerable to the judgement of others and being labeled as “too sensitive” or being told “you’re just thinking about it too much.” It also leaves me sometimes susceptible to being judgmental myself because I notice so much about the situations of others. Another reason for so many eyes is that when you see/notice too much sometimes you aren’t seeing things clearly from the others perspective because you’re looking at things from your own almost distorted perspective as a passive observer rather than feeling things WITH someone.
Standing at 6’4” I wanted her to tower in a way that makes her hard to ignore. This is how it feels to be seen and perceived when you have so many observations/emotions about the world and others. It’s almost embarrassing to be so vulnerable which can also be dangerous since our eyes are such a sensitive organ. People may not want to be seen so clearly and I’ve experienced the repercussions of knowing things about others they choose not to acknowledge within themselves.
I've poured my heart and soul into her, and I'm so grateful for the opportunity to share her with you. I was inviting everyone to touch her because in a digital world and being a digital artist myself I wanted to create something you can truly feel physically.
Thank you to the beautiful and amazing @bettydawl for having me last night ⭐️ her concept for the show “maybe I won’t die” revolves around our art living on after we leave this earth so it was very fitting that I was able to display her for this event 💖
Catch this piece at the next @artrafflepresents event - you won’t want to miss it! Thanks for all the kind words, they mean the world to me 💖. Stay tuned for a behind-the-scenes look at how she came together.

My latest piece “The Sympath” 👁️
The thing about these process videos is there’s so much you don’t see like:
-my husband cutting open her feet halfway thru to spray foam and having to redo them
-me tending to my son and trying to do this between his naps even if it was only 20 minutes of working
-my fingers splitting open and bleeding from being constantly wet
-the research in order to even figure out how to create her to last and prevent molding
-the crazy amount of tape layers to keep her sealed from water
-dripping in sweat from no a/c in the garage
-her literally falling over the day before I was going to display her and my husband/suegro coming to save her
All that hassle and people asked me “and what are you gonna do with it?” “what did you make that for?” and really I just did it because I wanted to and she wanted to be created. Once I decided to make her it’s like she literally made herself I just couldn’t stop or think about anything else. (Would be super awesome though if someone wanted to display her in their establishment wink wink)😉
Huge s/o to my husband @hvyyset for his support and assistance in this project. I’ve never had anyone support my dreams the way he does and I know everyone loves to say they did it all by themselves as if that makes it more valuable to be lonely in our pursuits but I’m proud to say my husband is the reason I’ve grown into a better/happier artist because he believes in me and my crazy ideas. Especially us being parents i’m so grateful to be even more invested in my art than ever. I love u mi papito 💖
