You don’t want to miss a very special evening with @bluma2plo (Blue Mother Tupelo) this Friday, April 17th from 8:00-10:00! Tickets are $20 on Eventbrite (ticket link in bio). Blue Mother Tupelo is Ricky and Micol Davis. Life for (The) Blue Mother Tupelo began in Knoxville, Tennessee as a duo in 1995, melding into various experimental configurations, from first performances at open-mic nights to a blues-rock electric quartet then on to a kind of acoustic driven soulful country blues duo. 2020 found Blue Mother Tupelo celebrating 25 years of music together. 2021 found BMT continuing along pretty quietly in conjunction with pandemic hurdles. 2022 resounded with Love, Soul & a successful crowd-funding campaign in support of 2023’s new album! Blue Mother Tupelo was chosen as 2022’s Music Artist Of The Year by @thesouthlandmusicline . Ricky & Micol moved to Hendersonville, TN - on the edge of Nashville in 1998 as they lived, worked, & toured - writing songs and recording for 21 years until heading to the quieter cusp of the North Mississippi hill country near the Delta just south of Memphis. Como, Mississippi is now called home.

Tonight (April 9) is the night for the premiere of the StudioAmped concert featuring Blue Mother Tupelo from Como, MS. Tune in to WSRE-TV, at 9, for a 13-song set of original tunes. Using an acoustic guitar and dobro with a slide, a kick drum (Ricky Davis used to play the drums), a keyboard, a tambourine, and other percussion instruments, the band combines Southern soul, country rock, and Americana for a unique sound. Their music can be found on Spotify and other streaming services. Look for the married and recording artist team of Ricky Davis and Micol Davis, tonight at 9 on WSRE, PBS for the Gulf Coast. Don’t miss the last show of Season 16 of StudioAmped. It’s a good one. #bluemothertupelo #wsretv #studioamped @studioamped @wsretv

That blessed moment when we got to meet one of our music heroes, the great Mavis Staples, backstage in Nashville. All three of us were crying! Mavis began crying after she saw us crying tears of gratitude and felt how moved we were to meet her. A special moment for us that we’ll never forget.

A throw-back to one of the many times that Blue Mother Tupelo has been to one of our favorite places, Callaghan’s Irish Social Club in #MobileAlabama.
