Our Generations Alliance Employee Resource Group recently volunteered at the Rancho Cordova Food Locker, and it was an especially meaningful day of service.
Thanks to our partnership with Mentor California
and the Roberts Family Development Center, we had the opportunity to volunteer alongside youth mentees. Together we packed groceries, sorted produce, and greeted guests. What made this experience powerful was the connection across generations. These moments create space for people of all ages to share perspectives, learn from one another and build meaningful relationships—all while giving back to the community.
This mission of Generations Alliance is to break down barriers and strengthen connection and communication across ages. We are proud to collaborate with Mentor California and help advance the quality and quantity of mentoring relationships for California’s young people.

#ProudtobeBlueCA! More than 350 Blue Shield and Stellarus volunteers recently came together to fight food insecurity across the state, contributing over 1,000 volunteer hours at local food banks during the third annual Dolores Huerta Day of Service, and kicking off National Volunteer Month.
Volunteer events took place at a dozen food banks across California, from Redding to San Diego, including Sacramento, the East Bay, Los Angeles, and Blue Shield and Stellarus offices. Employees sorted and distributed more than 130,000 pounds of food — helping provide tens of thousands of meals to Californians in need — and decorated over 450 meal and care bags for youth experiencing homelessness.

Max Clark talks about the intersection of riding and resilience. For him, whether he’s hitting a line on the street or finding a flow on the trails, being on his bike is the foundation of his mental health. Every ride is a reminder of what he’s capable of, shaping a perspective and a mental toughness that carries over into every other part of his life.

When it comes to improving health, drastic changes aren’t always the answer.
Blue Shield of California’s Digital Care Programs focus on helping people take small, manageable steps that build into long-term lifestyle change. By supporting members with practical tools and guidance, the programs help people living with chronic conditions like type 2 diabetes make improvements that can last.
Because sustainable change can be made with simple actions repeated over time.

Today, we are announcing a major commitment to cut environmental pollution, support healthier communities, and make healthcare more affordable.
Together, across the Ascendiun Family of Companies, we will reduce direct greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from our operations by 42% by 2030 and engage our supplier network with the goal that by 2030, 52% of our suppliers will have also established science-based targets to address emissions. These near-term sustainability targets have been formally validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), the globally recognized, gold standard for science-backed environmental targets.
Healthier environments lead to healthier people. We are proud to be among a small number of health plans worldwide to commit to the SBTi effort.
