I haven’t done nearly enough bragging about my incredible Evelyn cosplay on here. It’s partially because the neon doesn’t super fit with the aesthetic of the rest of my feed and I’m just slightly neurotic about managing that but! We’ve got pink going on for February so y’all get to see some more Evelyn.
It’s funny because at this point I still haven’t played the game this character is from, and I’m not sure I will for quite some time! A buggy as hell release leaves a lot to be desired. But the aesthetic is absolutely incredible and I’m still so proud of the work I did to bring this cosplay together- and how damn good I look in this dress!
I have some plans for what my next cosplay would be, but what I really love about this is how each piece of the outfit- from the coat to the boots to the dress- are all things that I could feasibly wear in everyday life. As opposed to armor made out of plastic or a printed jumpsuit, this is just a really cool outfit that someone who is not me could wear, and putting myself into new shoes was such a cool experience. Plus now I own this incredible dress! 😍

We shot my latest cosplay on a very cold evening in early March (like below 40F 🥶) and @danakaephoto delivered the finals to me on the anniversary of the release date WITHOUT EVEN KNOWING which is just the perfect kind of kismet 🥰
It’s funny how cosplaying Leeloo felt perfectly fine, vs cosplaying a character I love from a romantic comedy and not like, sci-fi or fantasy or anime feels.. it feels less deserving of the word “cosplay” no matter how much effort or love I put into it, merely because of the genre the character is from, and I don’t love that! The coolest thing about cosplay to me is the characters and stories that we’ve fallen so in love with we want to become them, spend the time and energy inserting ourselves into the narrative- and romance has always been so precious to me! I love love, and that might make me a huge sucker but this movie has been just as good on every single rewatch (and there’s been a few of them 😅)
Anyway, I have loads more of Vivian to share, and I hope you take the opportunity to cosplay a character that no one is asking for, but that you love anyway 😍

The older I get the more I appreciate sensory luxury. I don’t need my bag or my shoes to be printed with a logo- I don’t pay to be a billboard for someone else. What I do pay for is the way silk slides on my skin, the way steam rises off my morning coffee, the fragrance of spring that lingers on your skin all day.
So much of social media these days is about consumption. Buying more, keeping up with trends, needing this one very specific home appliance to finally fix your life! If I had that new blue rice cooker, I’d finally cook at home more. I’d eat healthier. It would SAVE me money, in the long run- your mind running a maze to justify that dopamine hit.
Slowly, I am learning to unsubscribe. Selling more things than I’m buying. Investing in experiences and not things. And when I am buying things, trying to make sure they’re things that will last. Trying to make sure I’m supporting the people that inspire me, that uplift others within the community. In that vein, I’m so blessed to be working with @janesvanity . A local PNW business that seeks out that luxury and supports small, independent designers making incredible pieces that will care for you as much as you care for them, like this divine silk slip by @emmaharrislingerie

I was lucky enough to get to go on a mid-winter vacation to a warm tropical location and to be honest, I’m not sure if it’s making it easier or harder to deal with the cold rainy weather here in Seattle- all I can think about was how perfectly warm the water was, how picturesque the location- how many free mango tango’s I consumed at the open bar 😅
Either way it’s inspiring me to keep saving and paying down my debt so I can make my dream of going back a reality! The only beach vacations I’ve been on have both been to Mexico, what are your favorite warm weather vacations you’ve gone on?
