A recent visit to Kuroda san's timber shed in Ishida with @coji_coji_okura and my workshop colleagues @y_yostakovich and @naokigujo , who kindly organised the time.
A big, beautiful, rambling assortment of timber. My senses heightened. Scents I've not experienced before. Timber densities and tactility I've not encountered before. So now I have some Magnolia, Katsura, and Nara (Japanese Oak) to experiment with. There might be some Hiba and Sugi in there as well.
Kuroda san delivered yesterday in his very cute, very capable kei truck. Running to and fro like a teenager, timber bouncing on his shoulder, he looks at me with a glinting eye and tells me he loaded the truck himself. And that he is 90. 90!!! - Respect and love!!!

In the cross hairs. This fabulous little gadget really hits the bullseye. It has an optical magnifier with crosshairs. Sight through, line up the crosshairs with your mark, pull the optical magnifier out and drop the pointed dowel centre in, and Bob's your uncle.
