LONG POST COMING… Last night we not only took home two golds and one silver at the 2026 VA Governor’s Cup, but our 2024 Hewe’s Crab won CIDER OF THE YEAR! We are incredibly honored to receive this award, but it is no surprise that THE premier apple of Virginia took home a trophy. For a variety of reasons, we haven’t submitted our ciders to competitions for a few years, and it was humbling and rewarding to not only take home three medals but also take home Cider of the Year as we entered for the first time as new owners. We are a team of three. That is it. We make the cider, run accounting, conduct wholesale, host private events, and run the tasting room at a similar capacity to many larger operations. It is HARD work and overwhelming, but we are incredibly proud of ourselves for doing so. This year in particular has been very tough on us as we have collectively lost three members of our family within weeks of each other. Making through those hard times was possible by the love and support we have for each other and that we have from our friends, family, and customers. A special thanks to our Cider Club members who show up day after day, cheering us on, offering condolences, flowers, and gifts, and constant words of encouragement and affirmation. We are successful because of THEM. And we will forever be indebted. Congratulations to our close friends at cideries and wineries all over the state for winning awards for their amazing products. It is no surprise to us that your products have received the much deserved recognition. We look up to each one of you and are grateful to have you in our corner and as our peers. To share ideas, to connect, and to grow together is a highlight of running Blue Bee Cider that we will never forget. To our friends at @sagebirdciderworks @albciderworks @daring_wine_company @cidersfrommars and many more, your constant investment and commitment to your craft and Virginia cider is inspiring and we are incredibly lucky to exist side by side.
