If you haven't get gotten the chance to attend a @bloomlabvt workshop, run, don't walk, to the next one. She is bringing the art of perfumery to all of us in the most beautiful and accessible way. I had the joy of getting to participate in and photograph her Masterclass this past weekend at @vontrappresort and it was an incredible day. Sarah and I have a few projects up our sleeves for some things she's developing and I am wildly excited about it all.
I have a great sense of awe for anyone who shifts into a second (or third) career in a creative field. Leaving something that feels like "a sure thing" or what you have an advanced degree in or, quite simply, was a reliable source of income can feel wildly scary. To jump into a creative endeavor with both feet, in spite of everything else, feels like magic.
What Sarah has created @Bloomlabvt is exactly that kind of magic. I've had the opportunity to attend several of her workshops and I am 100% a perfume person now (if you haven't been to one, I suggest you go grab a spot). Getting to step into her studio space, however, was something out of a dream. I love behind the scenes and I'm a sucker for any studio process story. Any opportunity I get to make pictures of that is high on my list of priorities. Sarah and I spent a few hours together making pictures of her process of creating custom blend perfumes. Aside from the thrill of getting to watch her creative brain at work, it was such a joy to capture it in photos.
Sarah has some really incredible plans for the near future and I can't wait to make more pictures with her. More soon, but in the meantime, go make yourself your own custom perfume at one of her local workshops!
