Featured composer: TY BLOOMFIELD 🔥 Ty Bloomfield (@bloomfield.ty ) is a multimedia composer, educator, and administrator. Recognised for his “unpredictable” (Third Coast Review) sound, Ty’s work engages audiences in immersive experiences with intimate, yet electric soundscapes while exploring themes of memory and group dynamics. He is a graduate of Illinois State University (B.M.) and the University of Michigan (M.M.) where he earned the Dorothy Greenwald Graduate Fellowship. His music has been performed internationally by festivals and venues such as the DiMenna Center and the Avaloch Farm Music Institute by collaborators such as the JACK Quartet, Hypercube, Unheard-of//Ensemble, and many more. He is based in Ann Arbor, MI, and serves on the music faculty at Eastern Michigan University. I am incredibly delighted to share that I will be pursuing a graduate diploma in composition at the Curtis Institute of Music starting this Fall. So grateful for colleagues and experiences I've acquired over the last three years I spent in Michigan. So excited to see what awaits for me on the east coast!!!

Next up for our CCI end of year roundup, Excentric Kinetics by @bloomfield.ty ! This snippet of the end gives a taste of the ethereal hums of the fixed media with cascading kinetic motion from the instrumental lines. Our CCI composer workshop is moving to St. Louis this year from Aug 10-15th, and we are excited to have people join us in our new home city! Applications are due Feb 1st!
