Hackney Half is this Sunday. The race is one part of it. What you do after matters too. HOT + COLD. Most people skip recovery and wonder why they’re still feeling it four days later. Heat loosens the muscles, boosts circulation and helps the body switch off after race day. Cold water baths help reduce inflammation, ease soreness and clear your head after the miles. Together, they work harder than either on their own. Pair it with mobility or yoga and give your body a real chance to reset. Run hard. Recover properly. You’ll be glad you booked it come Monday morning.

Why I like to teach and practice Vinyasa Yoga? It’s all about that breath, mind and body connection. This practice takes you in a journey of self discovery of body and mind. It’s all about keeping that consistent breath and concentration throughout the entire practice. Working to find that balance between strength and flexibility physically and mentally. And who cares if the pose doesn’t “look perfect “ or “pretty “. I always say it and it’s true, we all have different bodies, different experiences, different stories that will make our practice different. There is not such a thing as perfect or a one fits all alignment. Through that body mind discovery you will change and your practice will evolve with some ups and downs along the way. And for me that is yoga, the journey more than the destination. Come move and breathe with me. Dynamic Vinyasa @blok Mondays and Wednesdays in Shoreditch and Thursdays in Clapton.

This Mental Health Awareness Week, we asked @jodiecariss , founder of @theselfspace , to talk to us about action. Here’s what she had to say: “If we’re honest, gyms have always been about action. You don’t think your way into strength, you do your way there. Mental health isn’t actually that different. But here’s the part we’re missing: action doesn’t always look like pushing harder. Sometimes the most powerful move you can make is to not react.” Five takeaways for this week ↓ ⬛ Stop waiting to feel ready You don’t wait to feel motivated to train, you show up and the motivation follows. Your mental health works the same way. The conversation, the boundary, the habit, it’s not going to feel easy before you do it. Do it anyway. ⬛ Small reps count here too We massively overestimate what needs to happen for change. A five-minute walk, one honest conversation, getting to bed earlier are your mental health reps. Do them consistently and they compound. ⬛ Inaction can be the work Not sending the text. Not reacting in the moment. Not abandoning yourself to keep the peace. That pause? That’s not weakness, that’s control. That’s you choosing differently. ⬛ Break the all-or-nothing mindset Miss a session? You come back. Same with your head. You don’t need a perfect routine to feel better, you need a willingness to return when you’ve drifted. That’s what builds resilience. ⬛ Awareness isn’t enough anymore Most people know what’s going on for them. That’s not the issue. The shift happens when you act on it, when you actually change something in your day, your behaviour, your patterns. Insight without action keeps you stuck. Come and book yourself in for a free 20-minute nervous reset session. Click the link in stories.
