As we near a decade of Bloc, one thing is clear:
Blocs were made to be used. Shared. Passed around.
Bloc Party is a step towards putting more Blocs where they belong.
In your hands.
Plywood wasn’t designed.
It was found.
On the opening morning of Cardistry Con Tokyo 2024,
we walked the streets of Ueno, Japan.
The city was just waking up.
A kind of quiet beauty that doesn’t last.
That’s where we saw it.
A striking pattern of plywood, creating a makeshift wall.
We photographed it at 7:19 AM.
Some beauty is only temporary.
That’s why we captured it.
Wood grain pressed borderless onto 52 casino-grade cards,
with 2 location cards marking exactly where it was found:
35°43’17.1”N 139°47’03.6”E, Ueno, Japan.
Edition of 500. Produced with WJPC.

Released in 2022, Black Marble was among the last cold-foiled decks produced by Cartamundi before their custom division closed.
The texture was found in Ninh Bình, Vietnam in 2019. We traced it with gold.
Bloc isn’t about design. It’s about revealing what’s there.
When we launched Marble in 2018, we quietly rewrote our design process.
The ad card featured a texture we captured on an iPhone 7. No fancy camera, no scanner. Just a texture worth capturing.
That experiment shifted everything. It worked. We stopped prioritizing *perfect* files and started chasing real textures. Grain wasn’t an issue. Resolution was fine. The world became our texture library.
Blocs. A world of possibilities.
