The official poster I designed for StuGo is revealed! This is the show I've been art directing for the past couple of years with the most talented team you can imagine. Grateful to the whole team for helping push this thing to the finish line.
Hard to overstate how much it meant to me to work on Owl House, to work on such a wonderful show with terrific artists and people, and to get to draw stuff like this. I miss it a ton already.
Here are a selection of the almost 50 backgrounds I did for the finale while I was lead location designer.
The Castle of Cagliostro — privately commissioned screenprint, 15 colors, 24x36”

This one has been in the pipeline for a long time, super delayed due to Covid backups at the printer, but coming home at long last. APs will be for sale when I have them.
Illustrations from @zacgorman 's wonderful Thisby Thestoop and the Black Mountain. Really looking forward to seeing if any of this imagery stays in the film version!
Word's out that @zacgorman 's "Thisby Thestoop and the Black Mountain" is in development at Warner Bros. Animation, so seemed like a good time to share some artwork I did for the books several years ago.
Absolutely one of my favorite projects I've worked on, and not JUST because Zac let me do whatever I wanted. For the longest time I exclusively drew fantasy artwork and never got hired for fantasy art jobs, and so doing a bunch of drawings of monsters and dungeons and such was a dream come true.
These are some scattered chapter headers from both Thisby books. Sorry for the lower resolution -- it's all I got!!
Watch StuGo on Disney+ so we can make more, please!
This is another piece of key art I made during the latter part of my time art directing on the show.
Who’s a good boy? Obsessed with Mr. Okay’s pose sheet. Talk about capturing the essence of a character!! 🐶👖🏝️
I love our funny, zany, beautiful show. @nooree.kim@gillizama@blobsma & co. 👏👏👏

Some backgrounds I drew and painted during my time art directing on season one of the show "StuGo," now on Disney Channel and up soon on Disney+.
I like management and building a team, but Making Images is always going to be my number one, so I tried hard to draw and paint as much as my time permitted. A few of these were doing during active production and a few were done in post-production once animation came back.
StuGo is a really good show -- watch it now if you can, but make sure to get eyes on it when it launches on Disney+.
A variety of characters and creatures designed for episodes 004-017 of StuGo.
1. Diorama toy monsters, a few based on plastic dinosaur/monster toys I had as a kid.
2. Bog Dog and Postmaster. I definitely prefer the final Bog Dog design by @jnoel150 .
3. Kelpers, little sea-monkey adjacent guys.
4. Van, from one of my favorite episodes. Final design lovingly sorted out by @richiepope
5-6. Early Night Heron designs, some from when it was more of a monster rather than a normal bird.
7. Nils Vulfen, a leathery old man.
8. The Nannytee, a really fun one to figure out. I like the wheels it ended up with but will always sorta miss the idea of doing spider legs.
9. Bombswapper and The Defuser. Also an alternate version, Hot Bombswapper. Final designs immaculately crafted by @nooree.kim
Anyway, watch StuGo, a really great cartoon.
Location exploration from StuGo episodes 01-011ish. Finding the balance between lived in and wild, futuristic and worn was always top of our minds when designing on the show. It became clear early on that we wanted both the beautiful parts of the tropics and the humid and bug-filled parts on display as often as possible. These are mostly too crowded to serve as production BGs on a show like ours, but I wanted to explore the different patterns, textures, etc that we could find ourselves using. Our design, paint, and color teams really brought these to life in production.
In the midst of our evacuation from the California wildfires, Kali and I welcomed this one into the world. I can’t wait for our home to be safe for us to live in again. I can’t wait to show her the snow on the mountains, sit outside and listen to the birdsong in the spring. I can’t wait for her to meet everyone. It’s been hard, but it won’t be forever.
