Ever wanted to see what an animated series looks like BEFORE production? Here’s a glimpse into our pre-production journey for Zipped Up!:
Creator of the series, Prettlophine Cotton, had compiled a series “plot bible” in 2025 to properly map out her final vision for the series. Given the specifics of the series plot bible, she felt as if the pilot needed to introduce the following: more main character interaction, a breakdown of how the zippers in the series actually worked, and a better introduction to these main 4 characters. Zipped Up’s writing team and Prettlophine underwent several meetings, and had compiled necessary notes to properly shape the script to what it is today! The introduction for the main 4 went from a 3 minute, quick, fast pace introduction, to a 5 minute, easy to follow, concise introduction.
Although the pilot underwent rewrites in mid-2025 after the series bible, Prettlophine has shared the following with fans to reassure them: “To go indie is to experiment, and to enjoy telling a story. No story is written perfectly, but when you have an idea thats sat with you for so long, you want it to be executed in a way that you yourself deem as “perfect.”
“Our team and I have had a blast making Zipped Up exactly what we want it to be, our version of perfect. To be able to do that with funding after our previous campaigns has been a blast, and I hope others can experience this amount of joy in creating the same way I have when they begin their dream projects!”

Tense Rivalry? COUNT US IN! Some of you may be wondering who DOM and Twiggs *really* are in Zipped Up, and what’s their significance? When creator of the series, Prettlophine Cotton, and art director Brynn Lewis were creating the Galactic Nova Alliance, one thing was clear: they wanted to avoid the characters becoming a flat, cliche group of villains.
The Galactic Nova Alliance, although planned to be featured in EVERY episode of Zipped Up (so we can focus on our main heroes), is all villains, but villains with their own problems, stories, and arcs that we cannot wait to explore! Twiggs and DOM are one of our more complex duos, with these two being the greatest of friends one day, to enemies the next, and some days even something more. Although not the main focus of the series, Alejandra, Nelly, Levi and Gadget may find themselves resolving much deeper problems than just what you see in the pilot with Kester, Rory and Seven.
That is a feat that we are extremely excited to explore as we not only work on the pilot, but also develop the kind of story we want to tell with such a fun array of villains and heroes!
