Blasting off to the snarling energy of “Anarchy in the U.K.”, Junya Watanabe’s Fall 2006 show read like something of a manifesto: punk provocation filtered through utilitarian military discipline and obsessive craftsmanship. The collection leaned into camouflage, raw edged patchwork, exposed seams, cargo pockets, harness like strapping, and deconstructed tailoring, with garments layered, spliced, and reinforced as though built for an army of resistance rather than as a uniform for conformity or trend. Functional garments were torn up and reshaped into something far more tense and cerebral, balancing raw aggression with keen precision in a way that only Junya can.
