Linkin Park is rocking Buenos Aires tonight and since our HQ is right here in Argentina, it's the perfect moment to dive into a project that meant the world to us: “The Emptiness Machine” music video!
We were thrilled when
@cntrl_studio reached out to us to collaborate on the VFX. This video, directed by
@mrjoehahn for
@linkinpark , features the band’s first single with their new member, Emily Armstrong.
Under the Creative Direction and VFX Supervision of Jeff Lichtfuss, we had an intense and collaborative four-week sprint to bring this vision to life.
Our core mission? To build a world entirely from particles reacting to the characters' movements. We designed two bespoke particle systems - millions of particles floating in space, each with its own rhythm. The movement data that drove our particle systems came from scans and mocaps generated using Markerless Motion Capture and Animation done with Wonder Studio by Wonder Dynamics (an Autodesk Company).
Every shot is a blend of intricate geometry, careful lighting, and volumetric effects for depth. Our pipeline leveraged USD in Solaris, rendered using Karma and Redshift.
Swipe through to see a selection of final frames and R&D explorations that shaped this unique look!
A huge thank you to Jeff
@jefflichtfuss for your creative leadership and Michaela McKee
@m_scout - it was a joy to work with you! Shoutout to
@FerFasano <3
