The collaboration between Goethe-Institut Nigeria @goetheinstitut_nigeria and BLBrand @blbrand_ on the project “Where is Dadiyata?” brings together cultural production and contemporary design as a shared language of storytelling.
Rooted in its commitment to cultural dialogue and critical engagement, Goethe-Institut Nigeria partners with BLBrand to extend the project beyond conventional artistic formats. BLBrand’s practice, which blends heritage textile techniques with modern aesthetics and community-driven narratives, positions clothing as both archive and expression.
Within “Where is Dadiyata?”, this collaboration explores how memory, absence, and public consciousness can be translated into wearable forms. By embedding the project’s themes into fashion objects, the partnership creates new entry points for audiences to engage with questions of visibility, justice, and collective remembrance.
Together, Goethe-Institut Nigeria and BLBrand activate a cross-disciplinary approach, where art, activism, and fashion intersect, to expand the reach of the project and situate it within everyday life. The collaboration underscores the potential of creative partnerships to not only tell stories, but to carry them—on bodies, across spaces, and into public discourse.

Movement in Royalty Process
The process began with fabric selection. We intentionally chose breathable linen as the base for comfort and ease, allowing the garments to move freely with the body. This was paired with batik (tie-dye), a technique deeply rooted in African craftsmanship, to introduce individuality and depth into each piece.
Every pattern was carefully developed, not just for aesthetics, but to symbolize motion, fluid transitions, imperfect perfection, and the beauty of organic design. No two pieces are exactly the same.
From there, we moved into silhouette development. We explored relaxed, expressive fits baggy structures and easy tailoring—to reflect confidence without restriction. Each cut was designed to give the wearer presence without trying too hard.
From the monogram hidden inside the collar to the subtle branding elements, every touchpoint was created to feel like a quiet affirmation of identity.
This collection was built with our close friends, From the earliest conversations to the final execution, they were part of the process. They gave honest feedback, and helped shape the direction of the collection. Nothing was forced, everything was organic.

Movement in Royalty wasn't built alone.
From the beginning, we invited our Close Friends into our IG studio, sharing inspiration, testing fabrics, refining silhouettes, and listening to their feedback along the way.
Every poll, every comment, every suggestion helped shape what these pieces eventually became.
This collection stands as a reminder that great work can grow from community.
Drops March 15th 2025, 8pm.
