Six months into my time at JLR,
@schimmiethat and I sadly experienced a miscarriage. During that time, I was surrounded by incredible kindness and support from my colleagues, which allowed me to focus on our family and on finding a way through the pain.
As difficult as that chapter was, we eventually came out the other side, and we have since been blessed with our beautiful baby girl as well as already having our little boy.
In the early days after our loss, the grief was accompanied by an overwhelming sense of loneliness. It felt as though we were the only ones going through something like this. But when we began to open up to friends, family, and colleagues, we realised just how many others had quietly carried similar heartbreak.
In the UK, one in five pregnancies ends in miscarriage. It’s something that touches far more people than we might imagine, yet it often remains unspoken.
Earlier this year, following an internal event at JLR where I spoke about my personal experience with miscarriage, I joined our Chief Commercial Officer, Lennard Hoornik, on an episode of the
@stillparentspodcast . The work that Ryan, Dan, and Matt are doing through the podcast and the Lily Mae Foundation, breaking down stigma and encouraging open, honest conversations about loss, is truly inspiring. It was a privilege to be part of their efforts to shine light on such a tender subject.
