21.3.26 Lidia Thorpe's (ever insightful & powerful) speech at the @blakcaucus march against racism in solidarity with First Nations for the day for the elimination of racial discrimination. Much was shared about Blak resistance against the ongoing australian war machine, the colonial violence of this country, the attempts to white wash and depoliticise resistance on stolen Land (e.g. so called "harmony day"). As if on queue, the last minute of @senatorthorpe speech was interrupted by a military parade taking place in sydney harbour... but staunch, sovereign women have never let colonisers weaponry stomp out their voice. Thank you @blakcaucus for organising, and thanks to all Blak women for your sacred rage that will see the violence of colonies and empires burn to the ground. Today we stood alongside First Nations folks from @blakcaucus on stolen Gadigal land, and in solidarity with all racialised people across the world on the day for the elimination of racial discrimination. 🖤💛❤️ We say no to harmony day. No harmony on stolen land. No harmony whilst the colony continues to fund genocide on these lands and in Palest@ne . Whilst children are stolen, whilst mob are murdered in custody, while white supremacy and structural racism continues to harm and kill people. The powerful @amaoleotalu spoke for @transjusticesydney on behalf of her people of Fa'afine Samoan folks and trans women of colour alongside so many staunch and powerful speakers.
