A special moment from the Harlington Locomotive Society. My first print this year, thank you @chriscookehandprints for the tips and guidance. It’s been a while since I last printed. Great to be back. #madeatrapideye
The summer ’24 took me back to Abruzzo — the town where I was born, where my first five years unfolded, and where memory exists more as atmosphere than detail. What’s always stayed with me are the vineyard tours my family used to drag me on. I still remember the smell of my first cellar, the sharp weight of oak barrels and fermenting wine — and how much I hated it.
Years later, at 20, working as a cook in a wine bar in Sydney, something shifted. Wine had always felt like an old man’s ritual to me, until I tasted a bottle from Lammidia — coincidentally made in the same town I grew up in. That bottle cracked something open like Remy in Ratatouille combining the flavours of strawberry and cheese.
Fast forward nine years, and that summer I got to take my own family and friends to their farm. We went in expecting a simple tour of the vineyard and cellar, but instead disappeared into a six-hour journey through the vines, the cellar, the land, and the story behind why they started it all. It ended around a long late lunch — wine flowing, stories traded between strangers from all over the world, the kind of table you never want to leave.
I documented the entire day, but one frame still lingers with me more than the rest: the table after the feast. Empty bottles, tungsten light, vinyl tablecloths. Something cinematic about it all.
I need to print more from this series. That day felt strangely sacred — like I finally got made like Tommy did in Goodfellas.

A 5×4 contact sheet from a new body of work I began earlier this year in Western Australia, exploring the relationship between people and the ocean. Over two days, I set up an outdoor studio at Cottesloe Beach, inviting beachgoers to sit for large-format portraits.
I’m looking forward to returning later this year to continue developing the project into a full-scale exhibition accompanied by a physical book.

Unfortunately, I won’t be there, but please check it out and enjoy some beautiful handprints.
