>> typo in the post: @rockundrollas Let me introduce one of our Panelists on "Understanding Physical Wellbeing in Skateboarding and WCMX" panel. Muna Diouf (she/her) Age: 32 Organisation: Chill Foundation ( Volunteering with @wondersaroundtheworldorg & @rockundrollas ) Role: Project Coordinator Switzerland Location: Switzerland, Laax Links: @blaecka | Bio: Muna is a skateboarder and snowboarder based in Laax, Switzerland, with Senegalese roots. As a Black, plus size athlete living with a physical disability, she challenges stereotypes in action sports and continuously adapts her practice to keep skating and riding. With a background in fashion and tailoring, she also worked as a ski and snowboard instructor and now coaches skateboarding and off snow training for young athletes. Alongside this, she works as Project Coordinator for Chill Foundation Switzerland, supporting youth through boardsports. Why this work matters to them: Muna’s journey is shaped by being underestimated and overlooked as an athlete. After an injury and medical negligence led to a physical disability, she was happy to walk normally again, skate and snowboard. Through persistence and adaptation, she proved otherwise. Her work is driven by showing what bodies are capable of and challenging narrow ideas of who belongs in sport. What they hope participants take away: An understanding of how important it is to listen to your body, build strength and rest, and that all bodies belong in skateboarding and sport. Representation matters.

So that’s what’s been happening the last few weeks. ✨Your girl has finally unlocked those boardslides✨ After years of trying to learn them over and over again, but never getting past the beginner’s park, always steps back with injuries and surgeries… I’ve finally done it. And I’m finally not afraid of them anymore. Thanks to all my friends who kept encouraging me and supporting me in my small steps. Especially @celia.petrig šŸ’– Or maybe it’s because of my new @burtonsnowboards ✨ Who knows? All I know is that I feel so blessed to have so much support from all sides that I want to keep going and make progress, even if it’s just small steps. My ankles aren’t particularly good, and I have to work with that every day, but I’ve figured out what’s possible and when I need to stop. Strapping in and snowboarding with this limitation still takes a lot of self-work. But I’m more than willing to do that work. Because snowboarding is my love.ā¤ļø Thank you, snowboarding. As some of you know I was recently in Uganda to Skate @ugandaskateboardsociety . Before that, I spent some time in Nairobi, where I had the pleasure of skating with some Ugandaskaters and locals, and I made my trick announcement for Uganda - a nosestall and a rocktofakie on this oververt quarter. When I announced my tricks, I had never seen the park in person, and when I got there and already had trouble doing a slasher, I knew it was going to be a challenge. On the first day, I only dared to do the rocktofakie and thought I would skip the nosestall because I would never land it. But you believed in me, as did the local skaters, and I had to take on the challenge. After hours of battling with myself and this quarter, after my eyes filled with tears, after wanting to give up several times, not only because I was exhausted but because I really thought I wouldn’t land the trick, @morzart_sk8 and @calvin_skillsman prevented me from giving up, even though I took the risk of missing my flight. Fortunately, I still had an @el_tony_mate with me, which I had saved for just such a moment, reminding me to trust my madness. In the end, everything worked out. I landed the trick, sketchy af but I had absolutely no time to do it again because I really had to rush to the airport. I arrived at the airport five minutes before check-in closed, only because I had an absolutely crazy taxi driver who manoeuvred around other cars at full speed to get me to the airport on time. Thankyou Skateboarding & Biggest thanks to the Worldwide Skatecommunity. I love you. šŸ’– #skatelife

Dear skating, every day I fall more and more in love with you.šŸ’–āœØ After a short but long year filled with frustration and many sad days, it feels so much better now to leave almost every skate session feeling happy and motivated. For the last four years, skating has really just been about relearning my tricks and adapting to my new physical limitations, with a lot of really frustrating days, but recently, skating has regained some of the excitement it had in the beginning: learning new things, making progress and noticing how I’m getting better and more stable with every session. Oh, I love you, wooden board. You are my favourite toy. Soon you will have to share my attention with the snowboard again, but I’m not too worried that you will be neglected. But I don’t want to sugarcoat it either! I still deal with daily pain in my ankles, but skating is worth every second! I experience the most pain when I have to stand for long periods of time or walk uphill or down stairs. However, I am getting more and more used to it and learning which pain I can endure and when I need to stop. I am also still adapting my movements to the limitations. And no, it doesn’t get better with time! I’m just learning to deal with it better! SO PLEASE Stop trying to convince me otherwise. I’ve accepted it for what it is and won’t let it limit me. Thankyou Skateboarding šŸ’– Thankyou all skatefriends for all them sessions! 🤳 @sicknick77 šŸ«¶šŸ½āœØ

What a fun miniramp session @doodahstore zurich. i learnt a new trick! and i’m stoked about it. (no idea what it’s called?! is it a switch feeble to fakie/ to normal, i don’t know... (Please let me know if you know.) With all my operations and breaks, I often feel like I’m just relearning all the tricks I used to know. That’s why this one is so special! It’s the first new trick I’ve learned in a long time, and more will follow! Thankyou @lenimueller_ @wondersaroundtheworldorg for that nice evening! & thankyou @dorothewetter for the push i needed 🄰✨ 🤳 @studioblauwe & @dorothewetter šŸ«¶šŸ½

I think i miss summer a bit. Here a little fun line from the new skatepark in Fazana, Croatia. #vladimirfilmfestival ā¤ļø Had to get creative to find a line since i’m not a good streetskater.:) what you don’t see in the video: I had to laugh like hell because my friend almost slammed, fell off his board, but kept on filming while running. šŸ’ŖšŸ½ šŸ¤³šŸ¾ @lazyturtlejuice ✨ . Slowly but surely I’m starting to like the new @freestyleacademy_laax . And I’m slowly figuring out how to ride this bowl as a whole bowl :)) The session got off to a really shitty start, my ankle didn’t want to and mentally I wasn’t in the right place either, but luckily that changed and I got hyped. Thank you skateboarding. šŸ’– šŸŽ„ @holly_krishna ✨ thanks for the hype & filming! . #womendoskate #girlsshred #ā¤ļøskateboarders
