After thirteen years as part of Rotterdam Unlimited, Dunya Festival returns in 2026 as an independent festival once again. On Sunday July 5, the iconic festival takes over Rotterdam’s Zuiderpark with a vibrant celebration of cultural diversity, music, dance and global sounds, bringing people, cultures and communities together through art, rhythm and shared experience. As part of the festival, Black Soil presents a continuous film program inside a specially designed cinema container, showcasing short films and audiovisual works by artists from the Netherlands and the diaspora, including work by Aramis Gonzalez and Ruben Cabenda. The program creates an accessible meeting point between film, music, performance and spoken word within the festival landscape.

A restored document of Gea Russell & Company’s 2001 live performance in Rotterdam. Gea Russell & Company – Live at Off_Corso (EP) out now https://ffm.to/gearussell Following the premiere of Just Like Water at Black Soil Film Festival 2025, we’re proud to release the accompanying 5-track live EP — alongside a series of restored clips from the original performance. From April through June, a new clip will be released on the first day of each month. Featuring “Feel Free – Live at Off-Corso” — a dreamlike cinematic spectacle, with a hypnotic, Indian-tinged extended arrangement. An alternative version to what was later released on their Slow Train album. On 23 September 2001, Gea Russell & Company presented Just Like Water at Off_Corso, Rotterdam — an intimate concept performance blending music, live visuals, and bespoke string arrangements. Much of the original footage and audio was long believed lost. After an extensive restoration process, the material returns as a poetic and evocative document — preserving a singular moment in time. #GeaRussell #JustLikeWater #LiveAtOffCorso #OffCorso #Rotterdam #BlackSoilFilmFestival #LiveEP #LivePerformance #ArchiveRelease #MusicArchive #RestoredFootage #FilmAndMusic #PerformanceArt #ConcertFilm #VisualArt #MusicDocumentary #IndependentMusic #CulturalArchive #RotterdamMusic #NewRelease
