The aluminum and stainless steel apple box reimagines a studio essential, born out of Black Helmut’s design vocabulary paired with the sensibilities of New Archive. Taking the familiar form of the apple box—a fixture of production studios and creative workspaces—the piece strips back its function to reveal industrial permanence. Transformed by material, it exists in tension between utility and artifact—at once both tool and sculpture.

black helmut has been busy engaging in the specific type of grind-hoggery that we are known for, which in this instance involved converting 9,000 (Nine-Thousand) lbs of limestone into a twisted table and booth setup for Cafe Prince in Detroit, Michigan.
