Congratulations to Mecartney Black on winning the 2025 Top Junior Angler Saltwater Award!
Mecartney earned this impressive achievement while primarily fishing in the Florida Keys. One of her most memorable catches came on January 1, when she caught a sailfish while fishing with her family. She credited much of her success to listening carefully to her guides and learning from their experience on the water.
Another exciting highlight of her season came during the Islamorada Junior Sailfish Tournament, when she caught her biggest wahoo yet off the kite — a catch that made the day especially thrilling.
Mecartney also recognized the strong support system behind her accomplishment, especially her dad, Capt. Richard Black, her mom, her nana, and her papa, Capt. Dave Denkert, who always encourage her to get out of the house and go fishing.
