Countercultures were born to challenge systems of oppression, not to reproduce them. Therefore, ideologies and behaviors like fascism, misogyny, racism, and sexism are not part of the true countercultural spirit, even though some people try to infiltrate them into certain alternative scenes. Movements like punk, goth, skinhead, the underground, and many other countercultural expressions emerged as spaces of resistance against social imposition, intolerance, and authoritarian structures. At their core lies a search for identity, creative freedom, critical thinking, and refuge for those who didn’t fit into the established order. Fascism and hate speech represent the exact opposite: control, exclusion, persecution of difference, and hierarchies based on discrimination. Misogyny and sexism reduce people to their gender and perpetuate dynamics of violence and inequality. Racism attempts to divide humanity under ideas of ethnic superiority. Fascism needs enemies and uniformity to exist. None of these ideas can honestly coexist with spaces that were born precisely to defend individuality, difference, and free expression. Sometimes, certain people use the dark, aggressive, or provocative aesthetics of some subcultures to disguise intolerant discourses as “rebellion”. But aesthetics don’t define values. Black clothing, extreme symbols, or a confrontational attitude That doesn't make someone part of a countercultural movement. Without ethics, awareness, and respect for diversity, rebellion simply becomes another form of oppression. Real countercultures are not spaces for hate. They are spaces for expression, creativity, difference, and resistance against everything that seeks to silence or dehumanize others. Defending a scene also means actively rejecting ideologies that try to contaminate it with discrimination, authoritarianism, and violence.
