✨️When I was 7 years old, I was introduced to painting by my grandma. Every day after school, she would sit with me and continue teaching me! That is where my love for art and creating started.
This orange shirt design was a collaboration with SIIT and Hardpressed, and it sold out in just two days!!..something I’m still amazed by and so grateful for. 🧡
When I create, I always try to include elements that hold meaning and tell a story. Orange Shirt Day began with the story of Phyllis Webstad; a story/experience that symbolized stripping away culture, identity, and childhoods for so many. A reminder that Every Child Matters is about truth, survival and honoring both the children and the survivors.
On this National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, I share this piece in honor of my family, the children who never made it home, and the survivors who carry these stories 🧡 ✨️
