It’s always rewarding to complete something that used to be only an idea weeks prior. I threw this vase with intentions of putting multiple storyboards on it as a “gallery” or “portfolio” piece. Since that is what I want to manifest for myself this year, my work being on display. Palau’s history being on display.
I learn so much with each new challenge I give myself. I am so blessed to be Palauan and to continue this illustrative practice and learn more about our history by doing it. I hope I make my family proud. Past, Present, and Future.
Fingers crossed it makes it to the kiln.

The installation encompasses my entire time in LA finding place within my journey as a ceramicist, a storyboarder, preservationist, storyteller.
Closing talk on the last day it felt as if I was on autopilot when talking story. No specific topic, just space to speak freely.
Whenever I get to talk about Palau, and my own experience of my calling to home, I can always feel ancestor there with me. Prompting me to say more. Speak for them the things that they may not have gotten to say themselves.
Dreams of mine that come from the domino effect of them searching for their own dreams.
I know there will be a day where those who knew my Grandma in person will no longer be here, but as long as I can help it, those who know me will forever know her.
