Nano-hydroxyapatite (nHAp) and fluoride have shown to be equally effective at protecting teeth. So how do they work? Read on for more info 👇
Fluoride works by teaming up with your saliva and teeth to essentially form a layer of protection over your tooth. So it helps remineralize from the outside in. It also works to kill bacteria in your mouth.
nHAp works by absorbing into your teeth and filling spaces caused by demineralization. So it helps remineralize enamel from the inside out. It also helps repel cavity-causing bacteria from your teeth.
While fluoride is more common and considered the gold standard in the U.S., nHAp is actually considered the gold standard in Japan. nHAp also has a few added benefits: it helps reduce sensitivity and has natural whitening properties.
Additionally, nHAp is safe to swallow (so it makes a great option for kids learning about proper brushing techniques!)
So, long story short, fluoride and nHAp are both great options for protecting your teeth. If you’re still unsure, check in with your dentist to see which makes sense for your own oral health.
We’re on a mission to have as many people kick the tube as possible, which is why we’re offering the choice — hopefully creating more options means that more people will make the switch. 🙌
