September last year, I jumped into a Master’s in Culinary Innovation Management. It’s been a journey - exciting, challenging, and a great learning curve but beyond all, my love for hosting supper club events and creating experiences that go far beyond the plate has only grown bigger . A rustic, homey Persian pan-cooked kebab, my year-round favorite! Although I often find it unreal to call only one tiny dot on our little blue planet home, my recent visit to Durslade Farm brought me back to my roots. The spirit of this place, the surrounding fields of @Hauserwirthsomerset in @brutonsomerset and the meal I made today with meat from @my_artfarm , raised on that clean and happy farmland, took me back to the exact dot I came from 🌍 I could vividly recall the times when my younger self would stop playing in the fields only to gather around a long table for the tastiest effortlessly organic meals with family. Only by tasting it could you truly understand the flavour of this lamb kebab today, paired with saffron rice, crispy organic potatoes, and Persian sumac. And, of course, the joy of the sun shining so brightly in the garden :-) 🌱

A memorable Persian Supper Club, at the beautiful @hartleyfarm for the first time with an amazing group of guests 🌾 We were also lucky to have have 3 of the dishes paired with wines from @thestores_frome 🍷 Thanks to all 🫶🏽 And, that was our last spring supper club for the season! Roll on summer 🌞

I’m thrilled to have had the opportunity this year to be at London @SohoHouse on the day of Persian New Year (Norouz), extending the joy of sharing food and stories around a table of joy and togetherness to a larger group of guests while setting our traditional table (called Haft-Seen) for this occasion. Among the seven items we always have on our Norouz table, the Apple symbolising Beauty and Health intertwined, was selected by the artist @dinachehrazi , who also happens to be my daughter, to be highlighted on the table with an amazing drawing she presented using acrylic gouache. 🧚‍♀️🍎 It depicts a Persian woman preparing amidst some of the elements of the Haft-Seen on Persian New Year.🌱 Dina says she was inspired by the Norouz love song “Baron Bahari” by @fereydoonfarokhzadofficial and Mahnaz, in which Mahnaz exclaims to Fereydoon in Farsi: “I want you to be a vase, so I can be the Jasmine inside it,” and Fereydoon replies, “I want to be the dress upon your body.” 🫶🏽 The original painting was acquired by one of the House members with (and for) an Apple girl within their loving family. Happy Sizdah Bedar! 🌱😍 Sizdeh-bedar, also known as Nature’s Day, is a Persian festival celebrated annually on the thirteenth day of Farvardin, which is the first month of the Persian calendar and the beginning of spring (usually falling on the 1st of April). During this festival, people gather for outdoor picnics to enjoy the arrival of spring.🌸 A common ritual during Sizdah Bedar is the disposal of “Sabzeh,” which are sprouted grains from the Norouz Table (Haft-seen) that symbolize rebirth and renewal. At the close of the thirteenth day of Nowruz, it is customary to release the greens by streams or in running water. This act is believed to cleanse away old memories from the past year and to rejuvenate the earth as the spring herbs flow across the land through the river, restoring freshness💫 Sizdah Bedar signifies the conclusion of the Norouz holidays in Iran, symbolizing a fresh start and new beginnings as the country embraces the coming year. Celebrating norouz ( Persian new year 🌱) at @sohohouse Greek street with a very special norouz themed supper club 🪻and a seasonal and traditional Persian new year menu, plated creatively, with love and authenticity 🫶🏽 Norouz - translating to ‘New day’, is Persian new year, and the first day in the ancient Zoroastrian calendar that marks the moment our planet’s subsolar point passes through its Equator, and spring graces the northern hemisphere 🪺One of the world’s most ancient festivals, the multiple activities of our 2 week long celebration symbolise and practice purification, rebirth, life and the inextricable relationship between humans and nature. Described altogether by 11th-century Persian astronomer and poet Omar Khayyam as “the renewal of the world”, it is the time where Mother Earth begins her cycle anew 🌍 We had our traditional haft sin as a part of the table; with prints of my daughter @dinachehrazi Norouz themed artwork for each guest 🍎 We talked about about the anthropology behind the Persian Norouz dishes that were served, with @heechestan and @dinachehrazi reading poems and reciting the history of our ancient celebration 📖 And the cherry on top - we had the wonderful @sarafotros.daf giving us a truly magnificent daf performance 🎶 It was one of our favourite events hosted yet, we truly came together to celebrate the rejuvenation of nature and life. A huge thank you to the Soho House team, my team, and every single guest who made the atmosphere what it was ❤️ “Awaken, the morning Norouz breeze is showering the garden with flowers.” - Iranian poet Saadi (1210-1291) 🪻🐣
