Friday Finds ✔️ Some housekeeping: We're open regular hours on this Victoria Day long weekend, including Monday! OK, now for the fun stuff: our annual Newfoundland beer drop is here; Bannerman Brewing and Landwash Brewery are back with some Spring crushers. We've sprinkled in a few local finds, too. On the wine front, famous Italian winery Tenuta Sette Ponti is here with Oreno, their premium Bordeaux blend and Crognolo, made from mostly Sangiovese. Welcome to May! Another Friday Finds is here. ✔️ There's lots to talk about like our 🪻 SPRING SALE. We're doing some spring cleaning and there are tons of savings to be had on quality products so follow the link below and grab that bottle you've been eyeing up all winter long, before it sells out! Apart from that, there are new wines from Portugal, and a new expression from Champagne Philipponnat- which you probably already clocked. We also received a slew of new local products like Barrelling Tides' 5 Fathom Dark Rum and Propeller Brewing Company's Black Stout 4pk. And we'd be reminisced if we didn't mention that May is our birthday month! This year, Bishop's Cellar turns 23. What do you know about our Enomatic machine? 🍷 Since 2002, enomatic® has been known for reliable Italian-made wine dispensers. Sommelier and Retail Supervisor Stefan keeps our lineup rotating regularly, so there’s always something new to try; ask a team member about the current staff favourite! Below is the current lineup (subject to change based on availability) and some notes from Stefan: 2023 Cyrot-Buthiau Meursault "Meursault in general is known to be one of the more rich, round styles of Burgundy. A fun metaphor I've seen online before is that it's 'a chef in a cashmere sweater'...silky smooth on the outside but rich, deep, layered beneath that. Warm, generous, inviting, charismatic." 2023 Miller-Cyrot Chassagne-Montrachet "To continue with the fun wine metaphors, think of this wine as an athlete wearing a tailored suit: structured, solid, not always super flashy but obviously high-performance. Precise, disciplined, refined...not so much soft and cozy like the Meursault." 2023 Château Pedesclaux Pauillac "There's a lot of depth, texture, and complexity here, and this wine is really just beginning to enter its drinking window, so expect further development and complexity over the coming years." 2022 Fontanabianca Barbaresco DOCG "This is totally classic, testable yummy Barbaresco. Think dark cherry, potting soil, dried rose petals, tobacco leaves, tar, wood tones with a rich palate, high acid and firm tannins. It's elegant and refined, but not intimidating. Easy to enjoy in an elevated sense."
