World Time Attack Challenge 2025 | Open Class
Darren Bishop — P1 in Class | P8 Outright
There’s a complicated history behind this car and how it came to run under the GTE banner. We won’t go into specifics but here’s what matters:
- Two years ago, three separate Pro Class veteran drivers couldn’t go faster than a 1:32.
- In 2023, the car landed with us less than a month before WTAC. With limited time and budget, Darren still pulled off a 1:30 on a brand-new setup — no testing, no practice.
- In 2024, we skipped WTAC to focus on Aus Time Attack, double-entering with Brad Sheils. A gearbox failure cost us the win, leaving us P2.
For 2025, the Evo came back stronger with a fresh engine, gearbox, and aero. Darren’s stressed that he didn’t want a “time attack car” — but a track car capable of winning WTAC.
This year, that’s exactly what we delivered. The Evo ran flawlessly across all three days, thanks to the best team and partners we could ask for:
Trent Murphy — the backbone of our motorsport program. None of this happens without you.
Benchmark Solutions — crucial expertise under high circuit loads, especially with no spare engine or gearbox.
Voltex Racing — proof that efficiency beats size; the aero kept us competitive with a small turbo package.
Royal Purple Australia — protecting the powertrain year after year.
Congratulations, Darren — officially the fastest Open Class owner/driver in WTAC history!
