To new beginnings! May 2026 be filled with adventures, happiness, love, laughter and creativity for you all! I love looking at greenware and contemplating the endless possibilities of decorating with my trusty pencils. However, I've learned that I'm happiest with the pieces that I've planned the least. The more spontaneity I can add to the mark making, the more energy will be captured in the finished pot. So, while there will always be the rough idea of a design as a starting point, I have to allow the pencil to move freely for the most pleasing results. I'm seeing this as a metaphor for 2026 as I've decided not to plan things too madly in order to leave more space for creativity. As I'm downing tools for this year, it's time to reflect. It wasn't an easy one for makers out there, but there is still lots to be grateful for. Thank you to everyone who has supported me, be it by buying a pot or by offering words of admiration and encouragement. All very much appreciated! I've enjoyed chatting to many of you at shows or during my open house & studio events. I'm also particularly grateful for all of the lovely students whose joy over their creations in clay is so infectious! And finally thank you to all you wonderful fellow potters - you are a fantastically talented and skilled bunch and being able to compare notes and share experiences has been invaluable to me this year.
