Went with two of my good friends from Canberra. Shoutout to them for making the trip so terribly funny, and helping me remember to be playful again. The trip was deeply nourishing in every sense. Especially creatively!
Now more than ever, I feel like I’m sitting on hot coals until I can find the time and health to make more art. Wrist exercises have never looked more essential, aw nuts!
Also @belittlepoet , you guys are the sweetest! Seeing the little duck cup drawing again, it made me so happy, I still don’t really know what to say. I’m just so thankful that I was able to come back again! This time, your crepe cake became one of my favourite drawings. :)

Making a lil comic again was good fun, hope to keep this art making train going! Just need to remember to drive it nice and slow for my poor wrist's recovery oops.

Saw some other artists drawing their outfits and I thought “Woah! I’d love to do that, but ehhh, I’ll wait till I’ve got a charactery outfit!”
And then the Griffith Film School Awards and Networking Gala came around, and that’s when I got the idea for a “Goofy 1960’s Femme Fatal Heist Lady” wahoo!
Also a thinly veiled cover for what I was inspired by majorly ahaha… you know you know.
Anyhoo my Brother won best Gaffer award that night and I couldn’t be prouder, and a lot of my wonderful old students were there and it was gosh darn so wonderful to catch up with them!
They also made me super proud, you guys are pulling in so many awards what!! And making such awesome films!! With the grooviest art styles and ideas.

First night in Japan was tough! Despite, there was this little nugget of niceness. It was also my first proper conversation in Japan!
The lady featured in this comic was very grandma-like, she was the one who checked my passport and scanned my finger. She welcomed me so warmly, gave me lots of little compliments, and smiled at me heaps. And honestly after a very stressful day of travelling, making lots of mistakes, being very overwhelmed, I held onto her kindness and it gave me a warm little lift.
We were also so lucky to have a friend with us that was very knowledgeable on Japan and could navigate us around! Fewf.
Makes me wonder what a typical first night in Japan is supposed to be like haha.
