When the algorithm is so strong, do we even need DJ sets anymore? Truth be told, most music listeners today don’t, and it shows, unless you show up, or tune in, but whatever ya do… DON’T DROP OUT!$&@?!!! Would you shudder if I told you that most of this brouhaha isn’t about the tunes, anyway? In a time and place where What’s Going On is wallpaper, and used vinyl records are utilized as corporate-minded content commodities, the race for profit amidst the meaning has distanced art from the artist, and taken imagination and creativity into another direction or field. Marketing, mostly, I think. Yes, you have to wear a lot of hats in this “business” (barf) to “thrive” or (gasp) “survive,” but it’s safe to say that those w/ duckets reach the top before anyone else.
