Over 1 million people live with bipolar in the UK. Yet over half of them don't have a diagnosis. Without that diagnosis and without access to treatment or specialist support, symptoms can get worse. Take a look at this new short film created by our ambassadors @rosieviva and @april_kelley Do you recognise days like these? #MaybeItsBipolar?

Too many people with bipolar only get help when they reach crisis point. And the quality of that care still depends too much on where someone lives and who they are. Today’s announcement of a new cross-government mental health strategy is a chance to change that. “We will embrace this opportunity, but we’ve heard the ambition before. What we’re really interested in is delivery. This consultation, and the end result, must lead to real change people affected by bipolar can feel in their everyday lives.” Simon Kitchen, CEO, Bipolar UK For our full response, see Stories or bio. #Bipolar #LetsTalkBipolar #EndBipolarStigma #MaybeItsBipolar

This #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek, the theme is "action". Why not take action by getting support? If you’re living with bipolar - or supporting someone who is - you don’t have to face things on your own. Support can look different for everyone. It might be talking to someone who understands, joining a group, tracking your mood, or learning more about what you’re experiencing. Whether you’re reaching out for the first time or looking for something new, support is here when you need it. 👉️ Find out more and get support >>

For #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek, we’re looking at another important question: what treatment is available for bipolar? Treatment for bipolar can include medication, talking therapies, psychoeducation and peer support. Many people find that a combination of these works best, and it can take time to find the right approach. With the right support, understanding and treatment, people living with bipolar can manage their condition and live well. We know treatment can feel overwhelming or confusing, but you're not alone 💙 👉️ Learn more on our website >>

It shouldn’t take nearly a decade to get answers, but on average, it takes 9.5 years to get a bipolar diagnosis. That delay can mean years without the right understanding, treatment, or support. For #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek, we're looking at the reasons behind the delay and how better awareness can help people get the right support sooner. Understanding the signs matters. If you or someone you know experiences repeated changes in sleep, energy or mood... #MaybeItsBipolar? Tap the link in our bio to learn more 🔗

This week is #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek, and we’re starting with a simple but important question: what is bipolar? Bipolar is a severe mental illness that causes extreme changes in mood and energy levels. Someone might experience periods of feeling very low (depression), very high (mania or hypomania), or a mix of both - often with times of stability in between. It’s very different from everyday ups and downs, and it can have a real impact on people’s lives. But with the right support, understanding and treatment, people living with bipolar can manage their condition and live well. We know bipolar is often misunderstood, so this week we’re sharing information to help build awareness, challenge stigma, and support our community 💙 👉️ Find out more on our website >>
